A series of deaths in a village called Chenjiawu are so bizarre and unexplained that death threats have been made against villagers who have moved away, the police, and journalists who have visited the village to cover the story. The hair of unknown origin that appears around the bodies, the villagers' legends of hauntings, and a few suspicious villagers who stay in the village are all suspicious. Murder after murder, in full view of the public. At the same time, horrific murders are occurring in the city, all of which involve a single stabbing, with eyes gouged out, genitals or uterus destroyed, and a rectangular piece of human skin cut out of the back.
